Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
Oyster helps freelancers and small businesses create and send invoices. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain — no dark patterns, no selling your data.
The short version: We collect only what's needed to run your account and let you send invoices. We don't process payments, we don't sell your data, and we don't run ads. You can access, export, or delete your data at any time.
Who we are
Oyster is operated by Pineapple Venture House LLC ("Oyster," "we," "us"). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@pineappleventurehouse.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address and password (passwords are stored securely by our authentication provider — we never see them in plain text).
- Business details: your business name, contact information, and any logo you upload, which appear on the invoices you create.
- Payment account details you save: the receiving-account information you enter so it can be displayed on your invoices (for example, bank account name, bank name, routing/SWIFT, account number, or notes like a Venmo or SINPE handle). This is stored to show your clients how to pay you. Oyster does not process, move, or have access to any funds.
- Client and contact information: the names, emails, phone numbers, and notes you add for the clients you invoice.
- Invoice content: the invoices you create, including amounts, line items, tax, dates, and status.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data: like most apps, our infrastructure providers process limited technical information (such as IP address, device/browser type, and timestamps) to keep the service secure and reliable.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share your information for advertising.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service — letting you create, store, and send invoices.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To generate the invoice PDFs you send, using the details you've entered.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To maintain, protect, and improve the service and prevent abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
How your information is stored and shared
We use trusted infrastructure providers ("sub-processors") to operate Oyster. They process data on our behalf, under agreements that require them to protect it:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
We share your information only: (a) with these providers as needed to run the service; (b) if required by law or valid legal process; (c) to protect the rights, safety, or property of Oyster, our users, or the public; or (d) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.
Your invoice recipients: when you send an invoice, you share it yourself (for example by email or messaging app) using your device. The information you put on that invoice is shared with whomever you choose to send it to. Oyster does not send invoices on your behalf.
International data transfers
Oyster is available worldwide. Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using Oyster, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction — you can edit most of your data directly in the app; you may also ask us to correct it.
- Deletion — you can delete invoices, contacts, and accounts in the app, and you may request deletion of your entire account and associated data.
- Portability — request your data in a portable format.
- Objection / restriction — object to or ask us to restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@pineappleventurehouse.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
For EU/UK users (GDPR): our legal bases for processing are performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), your consent (where applicable), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the service), and compliance with legal obligations. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
For California users (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or "share" (as defined by California law) your personal information. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Items you delete in the app (invoices, contacts) are moved to a "recently deleted" state and permanently removed after 30 days. When you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls that ensure each user can only access their own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address any issues.
Children's privacy
Oyster is a business tool intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Oyster after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
